SAVEAS creates script files for use with AutoCAD Release 14 for converting DWG
files to Release 12 and Release 13 DWG file format. It provides long filename support
and is designed for use with Win95 and NT. An explorer- type common dialog is
provided to locate your file folders. The paths to selected folders are pasted into the
appropriate fields of a dialog box for use by the program. There are nine different
purge command sequences available, one manual and eight 'Automatic Purge'.
Choose manual and AutoCAD will stop for you to manually purge the drawing. After
you have completed the manual purge you must type resume to continue. The
automatic purge scripts include: 1. All 2. Blocks 3. Dimstyles 4. Layers 5. ltypes 6.
Shapes 7. Styles 8. Mlinestyles. The latest version of the program provides a means
of purging a named entity from your DWG files. Enter the name in the field provided
and this name will be included in the script file to direct AutoCAD to restrict the
purge to this entity only. The program provides a means of viewing the contents of
the script files before you invoke them. The view includes a feature for removing files
that may already have been converted. This saves the time required to create a new
script file leaving out these files. If you have a large number of drawing (.DWG) files to
convert to Release 12 or Release 13, this program will save considerable time and
effort. The Purge function allows you to remove all or selected entities to reduce the
size of your DWG files before archiving them or converting them to Rel12 or Rel13
format. This is especially important if the reference items are not included on the
system the files are being exported to. If this does happen the conversion script will
stop. purging these entities from your drawings will prevent this from happening.
