MinBBox is a tool developed to find the tightest possible bounding box which encloses a SolidWorks part or an assembly. SolidWorks API functions return only an approximate bounding box with sides parallel to the coordinate axes. However, in many cases users need an accurate minimal bounding box, or a bounding box oriented along some given direction. MinBBox uses one of the best global optimization algorithms to find the orientation of the bounding box with minimal volume. The program may be applied to obtain an optimal packaging solution, exact workpiece dimensions and for other designing tasks. MinBBox is compatible with W98/ME/2000/XP and SolidWorks2001/2003.
